Malaysia government declared its target to build 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations in places by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021-2030. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Malaysia needs 150,000 public charging stations by 2030,and 76% of road vehicles will be electricity and need 1.3 million EV charger station installation to support about 38 million EVs by 2050.
EV is a huge market for Malaysia and the EV ecosystem is far from complete . For Malaysians ,the biggest concern is that battery powered EVs is the huge lack of public EV chargers.Till now , there is no more than 800 EV charging stations in Malaysia, In comparison, neighbouring Singapore has 3,600 EV charger stations to support a much smaller population and size.
In order to Stimulate and strength the development of the EV industry in Malaysia, the government has provided tax incentives, and established the Electric Vehicle Taskforce to involve relevant ministries, agencies and private sector players to improve existing strategies and formulate new strategies .
As the EV industry development and the huge lack of EV charger, It is severe task to set up EV charging pile and complete EV ecosystem. At the same time,it is good opportunity for EV charger supplier.
